RED ONE is today’s version of a motion picture camera. RED ONE was
designed and built to be a high performance digital cinema camera with
the convenience of pure digital. RED shoots 4K raw images using a 12
Mega pixel Super 35mm sized CMOS image sensor. Its modular cine design
allows it to be built for a full-blown feature film or scaled down to
be small and mobile like an ENG camera. RED records at 4K, 3K and 2K
and can be output to ANY format for edit and delivery for broadcast and
theatrical release. This output approach has previously been only achieved
when shooting film.
The popularity of digital video has changed the way filmmakers make
images. To a degree they have not always been happy with the results.
Unable to afford the cost of film stock on many projects, filmmakers
have been shooting with ENG style video cameras that have less resolution
than film, endless depth of field due to small image sensors, lesser
quality ENG or fixed lens optics, light loss from using PL mount lens
adaptors, and confusing camera menus, paint boxes, formats, down converters
and technical jargon not associated with film cameras.
In this transition to digital video, filmmakers have learned to enjoyed the immediacy of digital, the ability to view high definition images live on set, the ability to review footage on set, save on the cost of film stock and processing for a tapeless workflow, and the ability to go directly into a portable edit system for rough cuts.

or music video where there is a need to truly capture cinematic images,
