The RED One camera has a 12 Mega pixel Super 35-sized CMOS sensor RED calls, Mysterium. The sensor area has 4520x2540 active pixels and >66dB dynamic range to equaling about 11 stops of latitude. The camera is rated at 320ASA. Its color space is 12 bit RAW image making color grading, more flexible than any other form of motion digital media. RED comes with a PL lens mount to allow the use of 35mm cine lenses to achieve the same depth of field as 35mm film cameras, and was built from the ground up for professional optics never before available for use on a digital camera. RED can also be set up with a Nikon, Canon or B4 lens mount.
The RedCode RAW codec allows the 4K sensor data to be recorded at 24fps with a data rate of around 27.5 MB/s. In 4K it will be able to shoot at 60fps while 2K will allow for 120fps.
Made of rugged aluminum alloy, the Red One camera body weighs around 9 pounds and its dimensions are 12.02” long x 6.34” tall x 5.2” wide.
The camera is extremely modular to accommodate various configurations different jobs demand and has mounting points for various accessories and rigging. It is easy to switch from studio mode to hand held to steadicam to remote headwork.
